Local Father Counts 'Duck Dynasty' Episodes As Family Devotionals

MONTGOMERY, AL - As part of an attempt to fulfill his goal of doing family devotionals at least five times per week, local father Brent Atkins reportedly counts each time he gathers the family around the television to watch a re-run of hit reality show Duck Dynasty as one such devotional session, sources confirmed.

"It's working out great," Atkins told reporters during a commercial break from the show Tuesday evening. "You get some wholesome entertainment, some down-to-earth life lessons - and they even pray at the end."

"You get everything that you'd get in a Bible study from LifeWay, but this requires even less hard work and critical thinking, believe it or not," the father of four continued as he took a sip of coffee from his officially licensed Duck Commander mug.

"Now quiet down, Uncle Si's about to say something wacky to Sadie. I love this part - kids, get back in here, Uncle Si's on!" Atkins shouted to the children, who unenthusiastically trudged back to the living room.

After the episode, Atkins went online and bought matching camo Duck Dynasty brand T-shirts featuring slogans from the show for the whole family, a purchase he counted as his tithe and offering for the week, according to sources.
